BEHIND ENEMY LINES

You have probably never heard of TeenPact.  I will let a member describe it:
"TeenPact Leadership School is a Christian ministry designed to motivate and train young people around the nation to be involved in the political process through hands-on learning, and to raise up leaders with integrity and godly character."

If ever our nation needed an organization like TeenPact it is now, and all freedom-loving Americans would do well to offer their prayers and their support to it.  But for now let me quote from some reports a few TeenPact members wrote after a week in New York as members of a "Strike Force" at United Nations headquarters.  Because I do not yet have their permission to use their names I will not identify individuals at this time.

The quotes are taken from five reports that bear the titles: Are You Ready to Report for Duty, Behind Enemy Lines, TeenPact UN "Strike Force," Striking the U.N., and The Battle Belongs to the Lord.

...(there were about 40 people in our group), and the conservative voice was small but strong. Thus we often had to use subtle strategy to gain ground in a debate. In fact we ended up "taking over" the youth caucus, which had originally been led by child "puppets" from UNICEF. ...The thing that struck me the most was the incredible presence of evil that permeated the entire place. ...I would sit in the caucus meetings and hear things about homosexual families, the whole "it takes a village concept" and ways to erode the role of parents in a child's life, and my heart would just break because these people actually believed the lies they were so passionately advocating. ...it seemed, on the surface to be a battle of ideologies between two very different sides, by the end of the week it was evident that a much greater war was being fought...

...all week long, we were allowed to go behind closed doors, hear the actual delegates to the United Nations speak, and participate in the NGO (Non-Governmental Organization) caucuses. The whole experience was so complex and dangerous that it is hard to put into words... come with me as we crawl through the deep dark trenches behind enemy lines. ...I am convinced that the devil has a lot of control in and over the United Nations. ...we knew that God was fighting the angels of the dark side and there was a real spiritual battle going on. ...Perhaps we should witness to the UN community one at a time and outside the darkness of the UN compound.  ...it was a very faith-building experience. I learned that God is always, everywhere in control, the battle belongs to the Lord...

...Our main concerns with the caucuses was to make sure that the NGOs did not, as a caucus, recommend expansion of abortion "rights," homosexual "marriage," or other anti-family measures. Accordingly, we focused our attention on the Health Caucus, Girls Caucus, and Youth Caucus, which are known for being extremely liberal... Because caucus meetings depend on the principle of consensus, we were able to prevent either the Health or Girls caucuses from making anti-family recommendations. ...Something that was remarked on several times during the week, was that where the United States goes, everyone else follows. For the past eight years, the voice of the United States in international forums has been relentlessly pursuing an anti-family policy. ...Almost all of the vocal American NGOs are of liberal background, varying only in degree...

...That song, "The Battle Belongs to the Lord," is an incredible reminder that God really is in control of all things, even at the United Nations. Appropriately enough that song was our theme song the week of January 26 - February 3 [2001]; the week we had the opportunity to attend one of the prepcoms for the "Convention on the Rights of the Child." The trip was comparable to nothing I have ever done. Going somewhere and being openly despised and lied about was...a new experience for me. ...For the first time I REALLY had to be firm in my beliefs. I had to trust solely on God. I loved it. ...God blessed the work of the World Youth Alliance that week. He moved His Hand through the United Nations and blinded the adversary. I cannot thank everyone enough for their prayers.

...[we were] 5 students and one adult chaperone asked to participate with World Youth Alliance as a conservative and Godly influence during a session of the United Nations General Assembly... We would be hated because of the stand we took, we would be scorned, and at every turn the "opposition" would try to have us "shut down." ...I realized once again how utterly and completely lost so many of the people at the United Nations are, and what a mission field that place is. ...the third day...we (the youth participating with World Youth Alliance) successfully took over the youth caucus...[we] had been informed that the adults would make no rules, we were free to control the caucus as we wished. However,...it was obvious that the caucus was being controlled by adults from UNICEF and one other liberal international youth organization...They had placed a moderator of their choosing in control...[at one point an action] upset those opposed, including our "moderator," and they stormed out of the meeting. Immediately, we choose a chairperson and secretary and for the rest of the week...succeeded in getting a fairly conservative youth voice out to the delegates and other NGOs.
